Brief Description of Services... The Office for the Aging provides service and advocacy for County residents 60 years and older. Programs and services includes: Nutrition Centers and Home Delivered Meals; Home Care Services;  Family Caregiver Support; Medical Transportation;  Legal Services; Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance.

Office for the Aging Seeking Nominations for Senior Citizen Awards

The St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging and County Council of Senior Citizens is accepting nominations for the 2020 St. Lawrence County Senior Awards including:  Senior Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen, and the Jacqueline Sears Volunteer Award (J. Sears award nominee can be of any age).  If you know an exceptional senior who volunteers in the community, please nominate them.  For information on award qualifications and to receive nomination forms, please contact the Office for the Aging at (315) 386-4730.  Time is running out! Upcoming Events:

Advisory Council Meeting:  The next Office for the Aging Advisory Council meeting will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 10 am.  The meeting will be held at the Human Services Building located at 80 State Highway 310, Canton in the 2nd floor conference room.  The public is welcome to attend.


Cyber Seniors:  Learn more about your smartphone, laptop or tablet and maximize the use of your device.  Classes will be on Thursdays from 2:15 PM to 3:45 PM at the One-Stop Human Services Center, 80 St Hwy 310 Canton.  Class dates are March 5th, 12th and 26th, April 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.

Tai Chi for Arthritis:  Classes will be on Wednesdays from 9:30 AM - 11 AM at the Dobisky Center, 100 Riverside Avenue, Ogdensburg.  Class dates are from March 11th - May 13th.  Classes are free and open to all older adults, 60 and over.  Class size is limited and registrations is required.

Office for the Aging Home Care Program:  If you are 60 or over and in need of home care services, the Office for the Aging is accepting referrals for the Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP).  This home care program assists elderly, fragile individuals to help maintain quality of life at home.  EISEP provides personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming and meal preparation to County residents who are non-Medicaid eligible.  Services provided may be on a cost-share basis depending on income levels.  Contact:  New York Connects  (315) 386-4730.

Nutrition Program:   Suggested voluntary donation for individuals age 60 and older is $3 per meal.  Meals are $5 for anyone under 60.  Donations help support the program.  We request a 24-hour reservation to eat at any meal site.  For further info, please call 315-386-4730.

2020 HEAP Cooling Season will open on November 12th.  Please contact the HEAP Department to obtain an application - (315) 379-2297 - when the season opens.



EPIC is a New York State sponsored prescription program for senior citizens who need help paying for their prescriptions.  EPIC works with Medicare Part D as a secondary payer.  New York State residents can apply if they are 65 or older, and have an annual income of $75,000 or less if single, or $100,000 or less if married.  For more information, go to
