Fish Information
Minimum of 8' pond depth


Trout -
• Up to 600 Trout/acre
• Need flowing water to reproduce
• Brook Trout grow to 10-12"; Rainbow Trout grow to 20-24" or 2-3 pounds
• Require bottom water temperature below 70ºF
• Brook Trout are more aggressive feeders.

Largemouth Bass -
 • 100 Bass/acre
• Bass like a soft bottom area and cover to breed and hide in (grass, cattails, weeds, etc.)
• Grow to 18-19" or 4-5 pounds
• Tolerate warmer water
• May need to stock minnows with bass for food, 300 minnows/acre

***Largemouth Bass and Trout can be stocked together the first year, but older Largemouth Bass may eat Trout fingerlings.

Catfish –
• 150 Catfish/ acre
• Co-habitat well with other fish
• Do not need flowing water to spawn, but like holes. Will not overpopulate.
• Grow to 5 - 10 pounds.
• Tolerate wide range of water temperature. Temperature must exceed 70°F for 2-3 weeks in order to reproduce
• Will feed on Filamentous Algae and do not stir up the bottom.

Yellow Perch –
• 50 Perch/acre
• Grow to 9” or ½ pound
• Spawn in many places
• Spawn rapidly
• Like cool water

Black Crappie 
• 50-60 Crappie/acre, but reproduce very easy, may over populate
• Prefer clear, warm water
• Excellent eating with firm white meat
• Grow to 1/2 - 1 pound
• Stock along with largemouth bass helps control the population and grow larger bass
