New York State’s new gun law (NY SAFE Act) allows pistol permit holders to request that their information be kept private and confidential by completing and submitting a State Police “Opt-Out” form, which can be found here. The form will also be posted on the State Police website as of February 15th at We will also have the form available at the County Clerk's Office and at the 4 St. Lawrence County DMV Offices.

It is important to note that if the form is not completed and submitted to the County Clerk's Office, the pistol permit holder's information would be public under the state's Freedom of Information law.
